St. Joseph’s missionary society, Mill Hill
Missionaries, was found in 1866 by Cardinal Herbert Vaughan the cardinal of
West Minister at Mill Hill London. It was found with the aim of primary
evangelisation and reached in East Africa in 1895 and over one hundred years
they have been involved in building of the local church.
We are a missionary fellowship of men and
women from different continents equal in variety of giftedness and commitments,
touched by the spirit that cries out in us “Abba, Father” to create communities
of love, sent out to cross boundaries, inspired to be seeds of hope where there
is despair, of reconciliation where there is division, of freedom where there
is oppression, called to be leaven of the reign of God quietly working among
people of the margins taking the risk to be prophetic in our radical
discipleship. True to our missionary vocation, we are ready to leave our
country and our own culture and go wherever there is the greatest need.
We draw strength from our rootedness in
Christ recognised in the breaking of bread and experienced in the love of the
people whose lives, struggles and joys we share.
We call one another to continued
conversion aware of our powerlessness and dependence, gratefully trusting in
the healing presence of our faithful companion who promises to walk with us
until the end of time.
